2014 Mid-Atlantic Morgan Sale Wrap-Up
Thank you to buyers and sellers for making our 2014 sale a success!
With 108 horses consigned, our 2014 sale averaged $250 per head more than last year with a final number of $3,041 per head for the 100 horses sold. The high selling horse was the first one into the sale ring, the very flashy chestnut son of Serenity Masterpiece, Clayhill Chrome Plated, a 2009 gelding consigned by Firman Yoder and standing 16 hands. Sporting four white legs and a broad blaze, this high stepping gelding dropped the gavel at $12,500, a super start for this year.
The second highest selling horse was a Kohler Stables consignment, the lovely HVK Secret Odds (Noble Flaire x HVK Radiant Field), a 3/4 sibling to HVK Man About Town, HVK Guiding Light and World Champion HVK Vibrance. The 2003 bay mare sold for $6,000 and was just a few dollars away from the third highest selling horse, MSHS Midnight Cruiser (JMF Shanghai Knight x Syncopated Touch, by The Master’s Touch), a six year old black gelding that was the snappy consignment of Ben Stoltzfus.
Chestnut Ridge Morgans had two consignments in the top ten, Pete, a bay gelding that sold for $5,750 and CBMF Heat of the Night (Ben’s Rhapsody x CBMF Opening Night, by HVK Bell Flaire), a 4 yr old bay gelding that rides and drives and sold for $4,700.
Also selling in the top ten highest range were the black stallion Derawnda Brooks & Dunn at $5,500, the black mare Derawnda Black Dahlia at $5,000, the black gelding Yutzy Farm Hawkeye at $5,000, the chrome trimmed gelding WVS Liberation First Flash at $5,000 and Eli Petersheim’s elegant black gelding Sue-Rays Crown of Riches at $4,900.
We hope to see everyone back next year for an even better event on January 13-14, 2015!
